Measure first. Organize second.

The three measurements that keep a useful organizer from becoming another return.

A drawer can look roomy until a tray meets its curved corners, sliding hardware, or the utensil sticking out of the top. Measure the usable interior before shopping. The outside width of a cabinet is not the space an organizer can occupy.

Record three dimensions

Measure the inside width and depth at the narrowest usable points. Then check the clearance above the drawer base. Close the empty drawer slowly while looking for anything that reduces that clearance. Do not force it.

Lay your longest everyday tool in the intended compartment. A tray that fits the drawer can still be too short for your spatula. If several people use the kitchen, keep the arrangement easy to understand rather than assigning a tiny compartment to every object.
